Lost
You definitely know what you do not want, but you do not know what you want.
He said this to me the other day.
I admitted that.
Overtime glooms turn into smiles
When a colleague from thousand miles away webcams you with his naughty faces to buck you up.
When your overtime partner lets you grab the first cab he sees every time, without fail. Such a gentleman.
When a peer suddenly text you and said, "Let me know if help is needed. I will come in and help".
=)
Tension Headache
While waiting for my hair to dry, let's talk about today's subject of interest - Tension Headache.
I never knew this category existed until I heard it from an expert few days ago. I get frequent headaches in the past one year but never bothered to seek for any consultancy. So, recently I went to a nearby clinic as I was hit with a bad one for 2-3 days already. The Doctor asked if I happen to know in what circumstances do I usually get headache. Well, I guess it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know if x + 1 = 3, then x = 2!
I said to her unconfidently, "Errrr.. I realised I get headache whenever I skipped coffee that day.."
"Ehhh.. don't laugh." (although I wasn't)
"It's true!! It's called tension headache", she said.
She continued, "There are various factors that contribute to it.. Stress, lack of sleep, dehydration, and caffeine withdrawal.. If you don't get headache when you take one cup a day, why not? It's better than taking medicine, right?"
"Ummm... yeah."
I was preparing to leave the room and she ended with, "So.. don't forget to take your cup of coffee first thing tomorrow morning ya?"
"Yes, doctor!"
2011?
The long weekend has ended. The following weeks would be tough as my project is nearing its acceptance test period.
I had been very lazy last year in the sense that I decided that I want to do this and that but they all ended up undone. I decided to be more disciplined this year! I hope to spend time doing things I love and have always wanted to do.
- Bring my faithful camera out more. See more. Snap more. Get creative?
- Bring my family on a vacation this year. No Malaysia, no Singapore?
- Target to complete kellerhomemade.com before Q1 2011 ends?
- Spend more time understanding and doing things he likes together? I think it is always coffee and camera. We should do more cycling, climbing, going into the water and watch more Toy Story? Haha.
Happy New Year 2011
It will be a long weekend for me this New Year. Finally get to spend more days at home, waking up to the comfort of my wangi bed.
It's new year again! It seems just like yesterday.
Reminiscing year twenty ten...
I saw myself anticipating the second half of the year whereby I would be completing my first working year in Singapore. I got to know some nice people from Myanmar, Indonesia and the Philippines. It was not a very challenging job but I had definitely learned what was it like to be working in Singapore. In March, we conquered Mount Kinabalu together. I still could not believe that I made it. Then, it was our first overseas trip together to Shanghai, China. It was a good experience to travel on our own with the "help" of the Internet. We have conquered yet another peak.
The second half of 2010 saw myself struggling to deal with my new job. I barely enjoyed my days as a newcomer into the company. I had to work like a dog, 24x7. There was no weekend for me during the first two months. I almost broke down. I could not cope with the pressure. I did not have the energy to keep going. It was a very tough three-months. I wanted to give up and I was all ready to leave the company. Then, I was persuaded to stay back by my client. I told him the whole team was a mess and that everyone was very tired working for the project. He offered me the opportunity to manage my next project and that I would become the project lead. I said I do not have the ability to pick up the challenge. He said, there is no right time to do something. The opportunity is there for you to step in and learn as you walk through it. He was right that I tend to escape every time I face difficulties. I did not want people to step in and interfere. I would always choose to step through. So,... I stayed back this time. I do not have to work till the wee hours now but it was not easy thus far. I had to face with the challenges of managing the project and to cope with the expectations but I believe the first half of 2011 will be a fruitful year for me (hopefully).
Ahhh.. it is time to plan for the next getaway when my project ends in April!
Happy New Year, everyone! Enjoy the celebration, wherever you are.
