To: Pretty Bit

She is officially 23 today.
She was the chubby and short kid, who was always standing beside me in most of our old photographs. Happy birthday to my sister, Pei Yee!

The SHORT and chubby one is Pei Yee. The TALL and cuter one is ME!

Hope you have enjoyed this day like any other year.
I wish that you live each day in your life with joy. May you stay healthy everyday.

Satisfaction is..

..when you walk home side-by-side with a bunch of primary school kids after a long day at work.
..when you listen to the kids arguing which superhero is the strongest along the journey.
..when you reach the doorstep and realised that your clothes hung overnight were kindly clipped with laundry clippers by your houseowner.
..when you know someone will be waiting for you for dinner after work.
..when you realize it’s Friday and it’s time to go HOME!

The Virtue of Silence

I have, again, reached the stage where I do not know what to blog about. This is usually the early symptom of yet another blog’s closure. It is amazing how others can have a long-living blog! Haha.

Someone once told me that you should not need to think hard in order to utter something. It should come from your heart, naturally, when you have the desire to share something with someone. I truly understand this but sometimes I just wish I could be someone who can get the ball rolling in a conversation. The same person has recently claimed that I have improved :D I could not perceive this happening, yet.

On a side note, I am still alive! This is my second working week in Singapore and I am beginning to get used to my new lifestyle. The workload is quite tremendous despite the fact that I am still a newcomer. Alright. Maybe I have to start accepting the fact that I am no longer a starter in the industry and I should be able to begin working without too much guidance. Hmph… so far so good.

Ahhh.. I just realised my neighbour (a couple next door) has ended their World-War-III. They were the contributing factor to my insomnia tonight.
Good night!

Life of An Immigrant Worker

It is pretty much a routined life. My usual day starts at 7:30AM and ends at 10:00-11:00PM.

7:00AM – Biological alarm triggers, lazes on bed.
7:30AM – Prepare for work.
8:10AM – Journey to office begins! It is a 7-minute brisk walk; passing by a few blocks of flats and a secondary school.

8:20AM – Off to the canteen to get a cup of black coffee.
8:30AM – Work starts!
5:30PM – Office hour officially ends at this time but on a busy day, I may need to stay to finish certain tasks.

Finally, off to dinner with KC!
That’s about it, the life of an immigrant worker.

Where do I begin?

This is my fourth day living in The Lion City, Singapore. I miss home! I miss my comfy bed (although I have the same queen-sized bed here)! It’s different.. without my bolster. I miss mom’s potatoes with pork. I miss mom’s missed calls every other morning when she didn’t see me downstairs after 7:40 AM. How’s my brother doing with his Add Maths? Maybe Ling-cha won’t complain I’m slow-poke when I get home this weekend? Has my bedroom been invaded? Bit-cha must be dreaming of me now!

There are just so many things to tell but I am sitting here, wondering where to begin. First of, I don’t have Internet access just yet but I got lucky tonight to be able to piggyback on someone else’s wireless network.
Hmmm.. I guess I’ll lump everything at one go.

Firstly, let’s see what happened on 15th Aug. I revealed this blog and presented the Roti Canai to him!

And, on The Day, I had to rush to Shaw Towers after work to get my employment contract signed. I did not have trouble getting there at all because I had a rehearsal the day before! Haha. Thanks to my official tour agent a.k.a. Mr. Low Kean Cheong! Left office at about 5:20 PM, reached Shaw Towers at 6:30 PM sharp, went through a series of agreement signing procedure and briefings on the contract and left the tower at 7:30 PM. On my way to the MRT station, I stopped by at The Coffee Connoisseur in Bugis to get a slice of cake. I had earlier scouted for a bakery when I was walking to Shaw Towers. As soon as I walked in, I asked if they have candles because I doubted if they would have one to spare as it’s not even a bakery. I wanted to get this so much simply because there was no candle on top of the Mille Crepe the other day. I got a Chocolate Cheese, packed with a small candle and quickly rushed to the MRT station. Finally reached VivoCity at 8:20 PM! I let him choose the dinner place and he chose to have a simple dinner at Subway to save time.

After the quick dinner, he brought me to the rooftop sky park in VivoCity. We found a cosy place to sit, facing Sentosa Island. When we began to light the candle, a group of ladies, sitting not too far from us started singing Happy Birthday to him. Haha. Thank you, ladies! So, we waited for them to finish the song and he blew the candle.

Secondly, let’s take a peek at my shelter in Singapore!

That’s all for now. It’s 2:05 AM! I have to hit the sack or else I would need lots of caffeine tomorrow.
